Constanza María Báez Jalil (born January 4, 1991 in Quito) is a model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Ecuador 2013 and represented Ecuador at Miss Universe 2013.

Early life

She was born to an Ecuadorian father and a half Lebanese mother. Báez speaks Spanish, English, and German.[2] She graduated with an Economics degree from the Universidad Santa María de Guayaquil.[3] She currently works as an economist and a professional model.

Miss Ecuador 2013

Báez, who stands 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in) tall, competed as a representative of Pichincha, one of the 15 contestants in her country's national beauty pageant, Miss Ecuador 2013, broadcast live on March 8, 2013 from Guayaquil, where she obtained the Best Figure award, and became the eventual winner, gaining the right to represent Ecuador at Miss Universe 2013.[4] This was Báez' first attempt at the title.

Miss Universe 2013

Báez represented Ecuador at the Miss Universe 2013 pageant on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in Moscow, Russia where she placed the semifinals and eventually finished as 2nd Runner-Up. This is the highest placement Ecuador has achieved at Miss Universe so far.

Baez is only the third woman representing Ecuador to place in the semifinals. The first was in 1981 with Lucia Vinueza who finished in the Top 12. The second was in 2004 (which was held in Ecuador) with Susana Rivadeneira who finished in the Top 10.
