Confederation GO Station is a planned train station[2] to be built by Metrolinx in the community of Stoney Creek in east Hamilton, Ontario on the Canadian National Railway line.

The station is named for Confederation Park, nearby on Lake Ontario.

Construction

The station is planned as part of the anticipated expansion of GO Transit's Lakeshore West line service to Niagara Falls[3]

The first option would be to extend all-day rail service between the Hamilton area and Union Station in Toronto from Aldershot GO Station to Confederation GO Station, with a train layover facility in the industrial area at Lewis Road in Stoney Creek.[4] Downtown Hamiton would be served by the itermediate James Street North GO Station.

CN Rail will be managing the replacement of the Centennial Parkway rail bridge, in partnership with the City of Hamilton and GO Transit. Construction of a detour road is expected to be completed by late June 2014, after which the 84-year-old bridge will be demolished and a new one erected. This will add an extra track and platform for expected GO Transit service and reconstruct and widen the road. The bridge work is expected to be completed before the 2015 Pan American Games.[5]
