The Composer Artisan is one of the 16 role variants of the Keirsey Temperament Sorter,[1] a self-assessed personality questionnaire designed to help people better understand themselves. David Keirsey originally described the Composer role variant; however, a brief summary of the personality types described by Isabel Myers contributed to its development. Composers correlate with the ISFP Myers-Briggs type.[2]
Overview
Composers are tactical entertainers, concrete in speech and utilitarian in action. In social situations, they are informative and attentive.[2] Grounded in the here and now, Composers are extremely sensitive to their environment. They are attuned to the perceptions of their five senses even more than other sensing types are. They notice any little variations in their physical world or in the people around them. They are very sensitive to balance and understand well what does or does not fit, whether in a work of art or any other aspect of their lives. Composers are highly conscious of their companions, but they prefer to allow others to direct their own lives. Composers tend to be emotionally well rounded and sympathetic toward others. [1]
Notable Composers
For illustrative purposes,
Keirsey and his son, David M. Keirsey,
[3] have identified well-known individuals whose
behavior is consistent with a specific type. Unless otherwise noted, the categorization of the individuals below, whether living or dead, as Composers is a matter of expert opinion rather than the result of the named individual taking a personality type inventory.
