Comparex

Comparex, or more fully Comparex Informationssysteme GmbH, is an information technology company based in Edingen near Mannheim, Germany. It is part of the Comparex Group (listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange under code CPXH).

History

COMPAREX Informationssysteme GmbH was founded in Mannheim in 1987, and was known until 2000 as the leading European Plug Compatible Manufacturer (PCM) of IBM architecture compatible mainframe computers. These systems were largely badge engineered versions of the Hitachi PCM range, which were also distributed in Europe through Hitachi Data Systems (HDS).

Comparex withdrew from the mainframe PCM marked it March 2000.[1]

Current Activity

Comparex is now an IT system integrators, with 1,200 staff throughout Europe, 300 of whom work in the company's headquarters in Mannhei.
