Comita Nikola

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Inscription in the National Historical Museum of Bulgaria citing Nikola and Ripsimia as grandparents of Ivan Vladislav, the son of Aron.

Nikola, Comita (Count), was a Bulgarian nobleman who, by his wife Ripsimia (also known as Hripsime), an Armenian,[1] was father of Counts David, Moses and Aron, and of tsar Samuil of Bulgaria. He may have ruled Serdica[2] or, according to other sources, was a local count in the region of modern Republic of Macedonia.[3] His son Samuil ruled as emperor of the First Bulgarian Empire from 996 to 1014.
