Colt Mustang
The Colt Mustang was a lightweight, single-action pocket pistol chambered for the .380 ACP cartridge. However, the firearm was short-lived, only produced from 1983 to 1996. Despite the short time of production, the Colt Mustang is widely used for self-protection.
Brief history
In 1983, Colt introduced a .380 model for government officials. The Colt Mustang is similar in design to the Colt M1911 or CZ-75, but scaled down to 21 3/4-ounce. In 1986, Colt introduced a simplified version of the .380 holding 2 fewer rounds. In 1987, the Pocket Light version was introduced boosting the popularity because of the reduced size of the weapon. In 1988, the Mustang Plus II was introduced and it had a slightly longer frame. Further, the Mustang Plus II held 2 more rounds. In 1993, the Night Light .380 was introduced with Bar Dot Tritium night sights. In 1996, Colt added a blued steel frame or stainless version.[1]

Revival
In 2008, Swiss arms company SIG-Sauer revived the design of the original Colt Mustang as the SIG Sauer P238.[2] They are now making their own version of the Colt Mustang and the P238 is essentially the modern version of the Colt Mustang.[citation needed] There are some modifications notably the feed ramp, barrel angle when feeding and guide rod differences. The slide on the Colt Mustang also has a non-removable fixed sight that is part of the slide.
