Thomas Cody Spencer (born June 1, 1981) is a former American football linebacker. Although he never officially retired, he is essentially out of the NFL as he is the current Linebackers coach at Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at North Texas.
Spencer has also played for the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets.
Early years
Spencer attended Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas. As a junior, he helped lead his team to the Division I Class 4A State Championship.
Coaching career
After leaving the NFL, he accepted the job at Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas. He was 1 of 3 coaches that used to play in the NFL (Earnie Rhone and Kirk Botkin, but Botkin has since moved to the college level). He has no plans to coach at the college or NFL level.
