Cockburn City Soccer Club is an Australian soccer club currently playing in the Football West State League Division One. They play their home games at Dalmatinacs Park and train at Beale Park.

History

Cockburn City Soccer Club’s origin goes back to 1929 when they were known as Spearwood Rovers, in 1966 they amalgamated with Britannia to become Cockburn United. This club split in the early 1960s to become two separate clubs, Spearwood Dalmatinacs and Cockburn United. The two clubs enjoyed success in the period after, with facilities close to each other at Dalmatinac Park and Beale Park. The clubs reunited in 1998 under the negotiations of Angelko Petkovich and John Mijacika and became Cockburn City Soccer Club. The facilities at both parks are still used by the club's Junior and Senior teams.

Current season

Mike Lyons took over the coaching role at Cockburn after previous coach Tony Castiello was removed from the position with ten games remaining of the 2011 season. Coach Lyons had a lot on his plate trying to stop Cockburn being relegated, and in the end it turned out too much to ask for from the ex-Everton man, as the club was relegated and would play in the first division for the first time in 44 years. The off season came and a lot of new faces came and faces left; captain Paul Natale stood by the club through relegation as did goal keeper Dejan Aleksi, Marc Anthony, Jason Godfry and Devon Gibson. The club also gave Coach Lyons a contract extension with promotion the main goal. A preseason which would see the new lights at Dalmatinacs park get switched on for its first night game as Cockburn hosted Rockingham in a night series game, which Cockburn won 5–2. The new season started against the same opposition, but a very different score line, Rockingham completing a shock 1–0 win against the newly demoted team; an early season jibe was the answer to the loss and the boys would then need to get their heads ready for the first home game of the season. A promotion pushing Wanaroo, at the end of the 90 minuets the score was 2–0 Wanaroo, Cockburn had lost two on the trot and things seemed to have been falling apart. The next game went to plan with a win against Canning; the burn then went on an impressive run of 7 in a row, having them within touching distance of that top spot, a slight hick up with a 3-2 loss at shamrock didn't knock the boys off there stride, two wins a draw and a loss to Wanaroo had the boys in blue hanging on for dear life for the top spot. Following discussions and the resignation of Coach Lyons, ex-coach Scott miller was appointed first team coach for the remainder of the season.
