Cobra Verde is a Cleveland, Ohio-based rock band best known for:

They had a fair amount of underground success beforehand, however, with their unique glam/punk sound.

Cobra Verde formed after the demise of Death Of Samantha circa 1990. Singer John Petkovic took to the studio and borrowed the title of the Werner Herzog film of the same name; from Death of Samantha, he brought in Doug Gillard (lead guitar), Dave Swanson (drums) and had studio owner Don Depew fill the role of bass player (formerly of Cleveland metal outfit Breaker).[1]

This lineup held for the band's first three releases until Petkovic began to shake up the roster; the band has gone through several members since then, with Chas Smith (keyboard & theremin) joining in 1997 and Mark Klein (drums) and Frank Vazzano (guitar) joining for 1999's Nightlife. Ed Sotelo (bass) and Tim Parnin (guitar) round out the line-up.

2005 saw the release of the all-covers CD Copycat Killers.
