Club Social y Deportivo Jalisco was a former Mexican football team. that was founded in 1970 and played in the city of Guadalajara, in the Jalisco Stadium along with clubs C.D. Guadalajara, F.C. Atlas and Club Universidad de Guadalajara who also made it its home.Unlike like many clubs Club Jalisco began playing in the Primera División de México from 1970-1980 when the club lost the category. The club was sold to Jorge Vergara owner of C.D. Guadalajara who made it into a reserve squad for Chivas, also changing its name to Chivas San Rafael.

History

The club was founded in 1970 after buying neighboring club CD Oro, who was having economical problems not being able to maintain the club financially. The new owners change the club's name to Club Social y Deportivo Jalisco but kept the club's yellow and blue colors.

The club took began activity in 1970 playing its first game under name Club Social y Deportivo Jalisco. The club finished 2nd just 5 points behind the eventual champions Deportivo Toluca F.C.. In the 1971-72 tournament the club fail to qualify to the playoff just 9 points the 8th place. In the 1972-73 the club finished last in its group starting to show a weakness in the squad. In the 1973-74 and 1975-76 the club fished in the bottom of the qualification table.

In the 1976-1977[2] season the club fished 12 overall 7 points behind Club de Fútbol Laguna who earned the last playoff spot. The club won 10 games tied 14 and lost 14 out of 38, scoring 58 and allowing 59 finishing with 44 points. The Chilean Osvaldo Castro led the club with 17 goals score.

In the 1977-1978[3] the club once again fail to qualify finishing 12th overall just 4 points behind Atlético Español who gain the last playoff spot. The club had a record of 5-29-4 only scoring 19 goals and allowing only 18.

In the 1978-79[4] the club finished 17 overall with 39 points 6 more than the last place Toros Neza with a record of 5 wins 24 draws and 9 losses scoring 25 goals and allowing 34.
