Cleveland Line Terminus

Cleveland (formerly Raby Bay) is a railway station on the Cleveland Line of Brisbane, Australia. It is part of the QR Citytrain network. It is the terminus for the Cleveland Line and is the third of three railway stations in the area to be named "Cleveland".

It is in Zone 6 of the TransLink integrated public transport system.

History

The railway from Manly to the original Cleveland station (renamed West Cleveland, later Cleveland Central) was opened in 1889 and extended to the second Cleveland station in 1897.

The station was opened as Raby Bay in 1914.[1]

The line beyond Lota was closed in 1960. When the line reopened in 1987, the former Raby Bay station became the third to carry the name Cleveland.

2013 train crash

On 31 January 2013, a passenger train overshot the railway line and collided with the station, severely damaging a toilet block and railway station and injuring 14 people.[2][3][4] The train was removed from the station in the early hours of the following morning.[5]
