Claudio Costamagna

Claudio Costamagna (Milan, April 10, 1956), is an Italian banker.

Chairman of CC & Soci Srl, Salini-Impregilo,[1] and AAA-Advanced Accelerator Applications,[2] he also sits on the boards of directors of Luxottica,[3] FTI Consulting Inc,[4] Virgin Group Holdings [5] and the International Advisory Council of Bocconi University.[6]

Biography

Claudio Costamagna attended the Ecole Européenne in Brussels and then returned to Italy to enrol at Bocconi University. In 1981 he received a degree in business and began his professional activity in the financial control area of Citibank S.A., later moving to Montedison SpA in 1985 with the position of corporate finance director for the holding company.

Career at Goldman Sachs

In 1988 he joined Goldman Sachs, initially as head of investment banking Italy then promoted to country head for Italy and chairman of Goldman Sachs SIM SpA. In 1999 he was appointed co-head of the investment banking division for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and a member of the European Management Committee and the Global Partnership Committee. Lastly, between 2004 and 2006, when he left the group, he served as chairman of the investment banking division for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

After Goldman Sachs

In 2006 he formed the financial advisory boutique CC & Soci Srl, of which he is chairman. In 2007 he joined the board of directors of Reuters Breakingviews. In 2011 he formed Advise Only SIM S.p.A., a firm operating in personal finance and advisory in online asset management. In 2012, after serving as director, he was appointed chairman of AAA-Advanced Accelerator Applications,[7] a European pharmaceutical group formed by European academicians, specialized in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic products in the nuclear medicine field. That same year he also became chairman of Salini-Impregilo ,[8] the largest Italian firm in infrastructure construction. He is currently a member of the boards and the Compensation Commitees of Virgin Group Holdings Ltd and FTI Consulting Inc, a business advisory group listed on the New York Stock Exchange. He is also a director and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee of Luxottica and a member of International Advisory Council of Bocconi University.

Other positions

Over the years, Claudio Costamagna has also sat on the boards of Bulgari, of Il Sole 24Ore group, of Autogrill and of DeA Capital, all companies listed on the Italian Stock Exchange.

Recognitions

In 2004 he was named “Bocconi Alumnus of the Year” by Bocconi University .[9]
