Fencing career
French Championships
Netter was the French national foil champion in 1952.
World Championships
Netter was a member of the French team that won the gold medal at the World Championships in 1951 and 1953, and in 1959 he won the silver medal at the World Championships in the individual foil competition.
Olympics
Netter won a gold medal in team foil at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki.[3] The French team defeated Egypt (15–1), Hungary (12–4), and Italy (8–6) in the finals.
He also won a silver medal in team foil in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne. He competed in both the team and individual foil events, and advanced to the finals in both competitions. In the individual competition, Netter placed 6th overall. In the team competition, he won his 2nd Olympic medal when the French team advanced to the finals and then defeated the United States and Hungary to capture the silver (they lost to Italy in the gold medal match).
Netter completed his Olympic career at the 1960 Rome Games, when he fenced exclusively in the team foil competition. France advanced to the final round, but lost to Germany on a fence-off after the two teams tied 8–8 in the initial match; France finished in 5th place.
