Circus Tavern

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Circus Tavern is an entertainment venue in Purfleet, Essex, England which hosts functions, cabaret acts and is also a nightclub venue. However, it is most famous as having been a long-time venue of the PDC World Darts Championship.

It was the venue of the championships from its inauguration in 1994, although the championship's size and popularity outgrew the venue and the PDC announced that the championship would move to the Alexandra Palace for the 2008 PDC World Darts Championship. However, in late 2008 it was announced that the inaugural Players Championship Finals would be held there between January 30 and February 1, 2009 for the top 32 from the previous year's Players Championship Order of Merit.

It was also the venue for the opening round and the play-offs of the BetFred League of Legends.
