Christ Presbyterian Academy (often referred to as CPA) is a parochial, coeducational, college preparatory school for students in grades K-12 in Nashville, Tennessee. CPA is affiliated with Christ Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America.[1]
History
CPA was founded in 1985[1] as a K-6 school and has seen steady growth over its first 25 years. CPA graduated its first senior class (of eight students) in 1992. CPA currently enrolls just over 1,200 students.[2]
The academy, which shares a 57-acre campus in Davidson and Williamson Counties with the church,[1] began in a single building. In the 1994, CPA moved its high school into a new building adjacent to the original school. In 2010, CPA began construction on a new 85,000-square-foot (7,900 m2) high school facility (on the same campus) that opened in the fall of 2011.[2][3]
Athletics
The CPA mascot is a Lion. The school colors are purple and gold. CPA has won state championships in football, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' golf, and girls' tennis.[4]
In the school's early years, CPA's football team played home games at Bellevue Middle School. In the late 1990s, the school constructed an on-campus stadium to house the football program as well as boys' and girls' soccer. The stadium has been given the nickname "the Den."
The football program is headed by former Montgomery Bell Academy, University of Florida, and Furman University standout Ingle Martin.[5][6] The boys' basketball program is led by former Goodpasture Christian School and Vanderbilt star Drew Maddux.[7]
Christ Presbyterian Academy’s football program has produced a good number of D1 FBS and FCS full scholarships athletes. Here is a link to a growing list of CPA Lions who advanced to play D1 college football on full scholarship. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.136802516362040.14379.136601009715524&type=3
