Christopher 'Chris' Glen (born 6 November 1950, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland) is a Scottish bass guitarist, who has played in The Jade, Tear Gas,[1] The Party Boys, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (SAHB) (1972–78)[1] John Martyn The Michael Schenker Group (1980–84, 2008-2010). He also toured with Ian Gillan in 1990 for the Naked Thunder World Tour alongside fellow SAHB drummer, Ted McKenna.

Chris has also performed with Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy), Robin McAuley and Phil Taylor in a band called GMT (GLEN/MCAULEY/TAYLOR) which they recorded an album in 1985 titled WARGAMES.

In 1992, Chris teamed up with former SAHB members Zal Cleminson & Ted McKenna to form THE PARTY BOYS which featured guest vocalists such as FISH, Dan McCafferty, and Stevie Doherty with Stone The Crows Keyboardist Ronnie Leahy. This band lasted about 2 years before they decided to recruit SAHB keyboard player Hugh McKenna and reform as SAHB, and also releasing a live album 'LIVE IN GLASGOW 93' featuring Stevie Doherty on Vocals. The band dispanded in 1995before reforming in 2002 for a tribute night to Frankie Miller at The Barrowlands in Glasgow with ex Nazareth guitarist Billy Rankin on Vocals. The gig went so well, they decided to give it another shot, and stayed together with Billy on Vocals for a year, before bringing in 'Mad'Max Maxwell in 2004. SAHB were back on top form with a live album titled ZALVATION, which was their first official release since Rock Drill with Alex Harvey in 1977, and an Autobiography called SAHBSTORY written by former tour manager and author Martin keilty. The band performed numerous tours and festivals across the UK, Europe, and Australia before once again disbanding in 2008 after the departure of Zal Cleminson on guitar. The band carried out a handful of shows that were pre-booked with Guitarist Julian Hutson Saxby but after that, they decided to call it a day and move on to separate projects.

In recent years he has been involved with his own band Chris Glen and the Outfit. He also re-joined The Michael Schenker Group with Ted McKenna in 2008-2010 to promote his album, In the Midst of Beauty. It is unknown if Chris will be performing with Michael again after the tour. This was his first tour with MSG since he left in 1984. He also recorded 2 tracks on Michael Schenker's latest album Temple Of Rock in 2012.

Chris Glen & Ted McKenna were famously known as a powerhouse rhythm section, and often worked together. They worked with Australian guitarist Gwyn Ashton on an album called PROHIBITION in 2004, as well as Newcastle Guitar Maestro Paul Rose who Ted later worked with himself along with Alan Thomson (John Martyn), and other well known bass players.

2013 has been a busy year for Chris Glen. He currently has his own band Chris Glen & The Outfit as well as being a band member in 70's reformed band Cafe Jacques, 3 piece project Votadini, and earlier this year, he toured with former AC/DC drummer Chris Slade for his 50th Anniversary in music tour called Chris Slade's Timeline.

Every year, Chris puts his Outfit together and performs a Christmas show to his loyal fans using various musicians such as: Jon Morrison (Actor/Musician) Julian Hutson Saxby (Guitarist with Nina Hagen Band/SAHB) Chris Thomson (Vocalist/Guitarist with Cafe Jacques) Stuart Clyde (Keyboardist with Glasgow/Cafe Jacques) Davie Halley (Drummer with Cafe Jacques) David Cowan (Keyboardist with The Resonators) Peter Higgins (Vocalist with Chris Slades Timeline) Wes Bird (Violinist) Johnny Bohran Watson.

As you can see, Chris Glen is still in high demand, and is still known as one of the best rock bass players in the world. He is known for his steady, pulsing basslines, and his out and out persona on stage.
