Chris Fawkes

Chris Fawkes (born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, England) is a BBC Weather forecaster. He appears regularly on BBC News, BBC World News, BBC Red Button, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5 Live. He is also a weather forecaster on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme, and appears occasionally on BBC Breakfast at the weekends.

Fawkes was educated at Marple Hall School and studied for a BSc in Geography at the University of Sheffield, before spending some time travelling the world.

He then joined the BBC Weather Centre in May 2001 as a Broadcast Assistant, supporting weather forecasters in London, presenting local radio forecasts and filling in for absent weather presenters in the BBC Nations and Regions. He also completed a short spell of broadcasting on BBC Four and BBC Red Button.

After studying meteorology at the Met Office College and completing his forecaster qualifications, Fawkes returned to the BBC Weather Centre in 2006 and now broadcasts on more than one BBC channel.
