Chowk

Chowk (चौक/چوک) is a Hindustani word meaning a town square, marketplace, courtyard, roundabout or intersection. A chowk is often an open area found in the heart of a traditional town used for community gatherings. An Arab equivalent to "Chowk" with similar pronunciation and meaning is Souk.
