Chkalovsk (or Chkalov, Tajik: Чкалов) is a town in northern Tajikistan. It is located in Ghafurov district of Sughd Province, between the cities of Khujand and Ghafurov.[1] Chkalovsk is a city of provincial subordination, administratively subordinated to the provincial capital of Khujand, not to the district capital of Ghafurov.

The population of Chkalovsk in 2007 is estimated at 22,000.[2]

As a result of its involvement in the processing of uranium ore mined nearby, Chkalovsk was a closed city until the collapse of the USSR.

The Presidential National Guard of Tajikistan formed one of its new units here.
