From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chita is a town in Trinity County, Texas. It was settled around the Civil War era, but did not develop much until the 1890's. In 1895, a post office was established, and in 1896, a school was founded. In 1914 Chita had a store, a cotton gin, and a sand and stone factory. After the 1950's, the town declined but after 1960, it grew again because of Lake Livingston. In 2000, the population was 81.
