Chirayinkeezhu is a village in Thiruvananthapuram district situated in the Indian state of Kerala.[1]

This is the birthplace of the Malayalam actors Shri. Prem Nazir and Bharath Gopi.

Places

The Sarkara Devi Temple is situated at Chirayinkeezhu (Chirayinkil). The temple is famous for the kaliyoot festival on the Malayalam month of kumbham (March) and Meena bharani festival celebrated for 10 days on the malayalam month of meenam(March/April).

The famous "Anjengo fort"(Anchutengu kotta) is on the way from Chirayinkil to Varkala via Kadakkavoor.[citation needed]

Chirayinkeezhu is located 28 km north of state capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Chirayinkeezhu Railway Station is the nearest Railway station. It is 28 km from Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station and 37 km away from Kollam junction railway station. Buses are available for Attingal and Thiruvananthapuram.

There are regular private bus services from/to nearby places Attingal,Kadakkavur,Varkala in good frequency.The famous "Anjengo Fort" is en route Varkala from Chirayinkil.KSRTC(Kerala Road Transport Corporation) operates daily bus services from Thiruvananthapuram,Perumathura,Pothencode etc.

6 express trains and all passenger trains passing through have stops in Chirayinkil railway station.It is on the Thriuvananthapuram-Kollam rail route. Malabar Express, Guruvayoor-Chennai Egmore Express, Vanchinad Express, Venad Express and Thiruvananthapuram-Kannur Express pass through this station. Traveling south, Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is the nearest major railhead. To the north, Kollam Junction Railway Station is the nearest main station.
