Chiluvur or Chiluvuru is a village in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India

History

Chiluvuru is located in Guntur District, the region which was famous as the hub of the history of Andhra Pradesh. Ancient Satavahanas ruled from the nearby Dhanyakataka / Dharanikota (Amaravati) situated on the bank of Krishna river. In the time of Pallavas and Eastern Chalukyas this region was known as Kammarashtram / Kammanadu, which extended from the southern banks of the Krishna river up to Kandukur (Prakasam Dt.). Subsequently, Eastern Chalukyas and Telugu Cholas held sway in this region. The recent history can be linked to the rule of Vasireddy Venkatadri Nayudu who ruled from Amaravati. The Gali Gopuram (temple tower) in Chiluvuru was built during his time.

Administration

Chilvuru is a Panchayat. The main head is Sarpanch (President). The administration also includes Karanam and Ward Members.

Internet Village

Chiluvuru is the first internet village in Andhra Pradesh and one of the very few such villages in India. The effort is supported by Katragadda Foundation.[1] Set up in 2004, it is presently run by Devi Prasad Katragadda and his brother Krishna Prasad Katragadda, offering their valuable services for their village development. Foundation has started e-governance programme in the village. The vision was to link Chiluvuru village in Guntur district through the Internet. Providing high-speed broadband Internet services to reach all villages. The focus was on tele-medicine as remote villages needed expert medical opinion in an emergency for which the foundation has brought new technology with the support of the 4G-informatics and for the use of farmers who would be assisted in farming.

Anne Yarlagadda Charitable Trust

Anne Yarlagadda Charitable Trust donated thousands of Dollars to build a Medical hospital for the village of Chiluvuru.The medical hospital has both outpatient and inpatient facilities. A dental and an eye hospital are part of the medical complex. The medical facility helps thousands of people every year. Hundreds of free cataract surgeries are done every year at the eye hospital.

Education

There are seven primary schools of which one is run by Missionaries and one High school. very good education in the above schools.

Places of interest

  • 'Siva temple' (Ganga parvathi sametha bogeswara swamy temple) is one of the oldest temple. According to history it was constructed in 14th century by cholas.
  • Gali Gopuram: The temple tower is one of the highest among the temples of Guntur district.
  • The philanthropic NRI medical Hospital and the Eye hospital are well known for their service to the poor people.
  • Mahankalamma temple located in the village is a very ancient structure.
  • RCM Church this is major church in Duggirala mandalam

The village is well known for its orchards of Sapota, Lemons, Turmeric, Paddy, Corn and Orange.
