Chieuti is a town and comune in the province of Foggia in the Apulia region of southeast Italy.
|
Chieuti placed in Italy's Apulia region, located in the province of Foggia.
Apulia borders Molise to the north, Campania to the west, Basilicata to the southwest, the Adriatic Sea to the east and the Ionian Sea to the southeast. Apulia is located at the "stiletto" of the Italian peninsula. This region is mostly flat and the Tavoliere delle Puglie plain, covering a surface of c. 3,000 km2, is the second largest plain of the country. It is 221 metres above the sea level.
The lime soils and the dry climate of Apulia provide a favourable climate for olive growing. The province of Foggia is recognised as providing some of the most fruity oils in all of Italy.[citation needed]
The community of Chieuti is not very large but very friendly. There are about 1.800 people who live here, called Chieutini. The last census showed 654 families.[citation needed]
