A chicken patty may refer to one of several chicken-based dishes.

In national cuisines

Jamaica

A variant of the Jamaican patty that includes seasoned chicken in its filling instead of seasoned beef.[1][2] Jamaican patties are a type of meat pie.

Pakistan

A Pakistani bakery staple which is prepared by encasing seasoned chicken in puff pastry. The chicken filling may be shredded or ground and the seasoning usually contains salt, pepper, and garlic. Chicken patties are round in shape to distinguish them from meat patties which are typically rectangular, and vegetable patties which are usually triangular.[3][4][5][6]

United States

A breaded patty of meat commonly eaten in North America[8] on a bun [9][10][11][12] and are occasionally prepared with soy products.[13] Chicken patties served in school lunch rooms and cafeterias have been part several dietary assessments regarding nutrition content of school meals.[14] This patty was introduced by Tyson Foods as a value added product concept in the 1970s.[15][16] The USDA considers chicken patties as a food commodity.[17]

In education

  • Tim O'Keef in his book Epicurus On Freedom uses a chicken patty to illustrate the concept of 'sense impressions'.[18]
  • The chicken patty has been used to demonstrate digestion in the 'Biology Insights' series of textbooks.[19][20]
