Chi-Won Yoon (born 2 June 1959) is a South Korean investment banker. He holds the position of CEO and Chairman at UBS AG Asia Pacific, and is based in Hong Kong.[1]
Career
Yoon was born in South Korea. He studied electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and went on to do an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and also did research at NASA on satellite communications.[2]
Yoon's career in financial services began in 1986. He worked for Merrill Lynch in New York, Lehman Brothers in New York and Hong Kong, and then joined UBS in 1997. He began to oversee Equities and Fixed Income since 2004.[citation needed] In March 2008 he was named Country Head for UBS Hong Kong.[2] He was brought in to lead Currencies & Commodities in February 2009. In June 2009 he was appointed CEO and Chairman of UBS AG, Asia Pacific, succeeding Rory Tapner.[1] He was made a member of the UBS Group Executive Board at that time. His role is to lead UBS' Securities business in the APAC region.[citation needed]
