Cherryholmes was a bluegrass music group consisting of members of the Cherryholmes family, including father Jere Cherryholmes and wife Sandy Lee and their kids, Cia Leigh, BJ, Skip, and Molly Kate.

After the death of the family's eldest daughter, The Cherryholmes family decided to get away for a weekend in an attempt to get their minds off the tragedy[citation needed], and went to a bluegrass festival.

On the way home from the weekend-long festival, they agreed to start their own family band. Jere took the lead and assigned the kids an instrument each. With backgrounds in Celtic music, he and Sandy decided to teach the basics of each instrument to the children.

Cherryholmes was the recipient of the International Bluegrass Music Association Entertainers of the Year award for 2005 and were nominated again in 2007. Other accolades include 5 Grammy nominations- 3 for Best Bluegrass Album (2005, 2007, 2008) and 2 for Best Country Instrumental (2008, 2010). They also received a Dove Award nomination for their Gospel song Standing (2010).

Cherryholmes has released seven albums since 2001. The first three albums were released independently; the next four were released on Skaggs Family Records.

On January 12, 2011, Cherryholmes announced via their website that they had decided to disband the group and would be performing their last show together on May 7, 2011 in Galax, VA. Jere and Sandy wrote on their website "we believe it is only right that our young folks be allowed to follow their own dreams and goals for the future. With spouses to consider and differing career aspirations, they deserve the freedom to choose their own paths without the extreme interdependence that exists in a family business."

Molly released her first solo project, called Corporation Insania. She is currently recording a new cd. www.mollycherryholmes.com

Skip started his own band, The Skip Cherryholmes Quintet. www.skipcherryholmesquintet.com

Cia started a new project in September 2011 called Stetson and Cia. www.stetsonandcia.com (The website has been since changed to www.songsofthefall.com)

B.J. joined the bluegrass super duo of Dailey & Vincent in July of 2011, where his debut was at the Ryman Auditorium for Bluegrass Nights At The Ryman. Since then, he has been a full-time member of the group, touring actively across the U.S., as well as around the world, including appearances with the group on the Grand Old Opry and other high profile venues and TV shows. www.daileyvincent.com
