Chelsy Yvonne Davy (born 13 October 1985) is a Zimbabwean national who was the on-off girlfriend of Prince Harry from early 2004 to 2010.[1][2]

Early life

Chelsy Davy was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, to Charles Davy, a safari farmer, and Beverley "Bev" Davy, a former Miss Coca-Cola Rhodesia.[3] She has a younger brother, Shaun Davy.[4][5] Concerning his reported relationship with Zimbabwe's president, Robert Mugabe, Mr. Davy told reporter that his daughter's relationship with the prince had caused "a spate of rubbish" to be published about his family in the media. Of his relationship with a government Minister, he told The Daily Telegraph: "I am in business. Not politics."[6][7] Chelsy Davy grew up at her family's homestead in the Lemco Safari Area.[8][8][9]

In September 2007, Davy moved to England to be closer to her then boyfriend, Prince Harry, and to study law at the University of Leeds.[10] The couple made many public appearances throughout the rest of their relationship, the most memorable being the Concert for Diana, the wedding of Harry's cousin, Peter Phillips, and the witnessing of Prince Harry receiving his wings.

After the relationship ended, Davy returned to South Africa for several months before returning to England to attend the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton and to resume her job at a London law firm.

Career

In December 2008, she interned for Farrer & Company. It was reported that Davy hoped to receive a permanent position at the firm, but instead took a second gap year.[11] In 2009, Davy transitioned as an intern for another firm, Allen & Overy.[12]

Relationship with Prince Harry

Davy had what the press described as a "turbulent" relationship with Prince Harry, the younger son of the Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, from early 2004, when the pair met while Davy was a boarder at Stowe School, to May 2010, when the pair mutually agreed to end their relationship for good after many years of being an on-and-off couple.[13] Davy announced the end of the relationship over Facebook. In 2011, addressing rumours of a possible reconciliation, Prince Harry publicly professed himself as "100 per cent single," revealing that he had no time for a relationship of any kind.[14][15][16][17] After the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton on 29 April 2011, Davy stated that she would not marry Prince Harry because "It's not a life for me".[18]
