Checkmate Transport[1] is a bus operator in Mossley, Greater Manchester. They currently own four buses, mainly Optare Solos with a Plaxton Beaver used for a school route and as a spare for public services, and along with the school service they operate a mix of tendered services and one commercial service.

Checkmate Transport has a history in Tameside, running numerous routes before selling the company off. They recently reappeared several years ago, running a small number of services in Oldham and Tameside, using Plaxton Beavers and an Optare MetroRider, before expanding into other areas in Tameside. They also operated the DS1 and DS2 shuttle buses in Saddleworth, linking Uppermill and Greenfield with Dovestones Reservoir in the summer of 2010.[2] In the summer of 2011 DS1 was operated by First Greater Manchester with DS2 scrapped.[3]
