Chavara is a village in Kollam district, Kerala, India. The village exports mineral sand, mainly titanium. "Chavara" is derived from "Chaavara", a Chinese word, meaning "cemetery". Chavara is part of the Quilon Lok Sabha constituency.[1]
Chavara is situated on the shores of the Arabian sea and the major freshwater lake in Kerala, Ashtamudi flows through chavara. Chavara is a place blessed with lakes and laggoons like Sasthamkota lake. The public sector companies like KMML ( Kerala Minerals and metals Ltd)and IRE (Indian Rare Earths Ltd) are located in kerala. The MLA of the constituency is currently Mr. Shibu Baby John.
