Chaukhutia
Chaukhutia is very beautiful city Chaukhutia is a small town in Almora district of Uttarakhand located at banks of river Ramganga. This picturesque place derives its name from a Kumaoni word Chau-khut which means four feet. In Chaukhutia's context four feet means four ways. Fist way is towards Ramnagar, second towards Karanprayag, third towards Ranikhet and Almora and the fourth way is towards Tadaktaal, Kheera. From here the entire region is easily accessible. Ranikhet which is 50 km from Chaukhutia is on the Ramnagar-Badrinath highway. Chaukhutia's historical past and religious significance can be seen basking in its glory in nearby areas. Kali temple is situated in Chandikhet village known by Kaligarh, Now-a-days the Kali Mandir is being renovated. Vaishno Devi's temple, ancient fort and ruins of Katyuri dynasty all makes Chaukhutia an explorer's delight.This is also an agricultural valley with bumper crop of Rice, Wheat and mangoes. Nearby town include Masi(13 km) and Dwarahat(22 km).The famous agneri temple and lakhanpur temple is situateed here.
