Charlton is a small village and civil parish north-west of Andover. Due to the expansion of Andover in recent years the two settlements are now effectively contiguous. As of 2005, the village has a population of 2053 people .

Along with all the sporting facilities in the village, the local church also provides many services to the community.
The Royal Oak
Like any traditional English village, the Royal Oak is Charlton's local pub, providing a valuable service to many of the locals. The pub also has various pool, dart and football teams as well as a very popular weekly quiz night.
Shops in Charlton
Apart from the Tesco mini-market which took over from the One Stop chain in 2007, the only other shop in the village is Charlton Premier Shop - a local produce and mini-market. The original shop in the place of the Premier shop was Behind The Bikeshed- a cycle shop known in the area for its evening rides both on-road and off-road. Behind the Bike Shed has moved to Andover to larger premises.
