From 1893 to 1896 he also published with Joseph Sattler the journal Images Alsaciennes/Elsässer Bilderbogen that featured articles on Alsatian culture.[2] Born in Bœrsch in 1865 he studied painting and design in Düsseldorf, Munich and Berlin. Spindler was a founding member of the project of "Alsatian museums", which were opened in the region in the early 1900s.
