Chandra Shekhar Dubey (born 2 January 1946),also known as Dadai Dubey is a Cabinet minister in Jharkhand government.He is an elected MLA of Bishrampur (Vidhan Sabha constituency).[1] Dadai Dubey is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party.[2] Chandrashekhar Dubey was also member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Dhanbad constituency of Jharkhand.[3] ChandraSekhar Dubey was made the state rural development minister in Jharkhand in Hemant Soren government in August 2013.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Dubey was also the general secretary of Rashtiya Koyla Mazdoor Sangh affiliated to INTUC[11][12] Chandrashekhar Dubey was also a senate member of Nilamber Pitamber University,nominated by Hon'ble Speaker of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.[13]

Controversies

Chandrashekhar Dubey has a number of cases of dacoity and other criminal cases pending against him.[17][18][19][20][21] In June 2000,Dubey(that time in Congress(I)) forcibly broke open the doors of three AC rooms of Kautilya Vihar,Patna( a hotel run by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation).[22] In July 2007 when he was Dhanbad MP,he said that he was powerful enough to dislodge the government and transfer any officer within 24 hours.[23] In December 2011, Dubey alleged that the Jharkhand Assembly was being conducted at the behest of "a handful of sycophant members.[24] Later,Dubey apologised to Jharkhand Assembly for his allegations.[25] In April 2012, Chandrashekhar Dubey claimed that Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu had given Rs 25 lakh to every MLA who voted for him during the 2010 biennial.[26][27] In December 2012,Dubey was accused of threatening Jharkhand’s Secretary(Urban Development) Nitin Madan Kulkarni in his office.[28]

Coal scam

In October 2013,Former Coal secretary PC Parekh accused Chandrashekhar Dubey and other MPs in a letter to Prime Minister,accusing him of blackmailing bureaucrats during 2005-06.[29][30][31][32][33] Dubey is accused to illegally occupy homes of the public sector undertaking Bharat Coking Coal Ltd(BCCL) in Dhanbad.[34][35]
