Chal Chal Chal (Bengali: চল্ চল্ চল্, Chol Chol Chol) is the national marching song of Bangladesh.[1] This song is written by Kazi Nazrul Islam, the national poet of Bangladesh (also known as 'rebel poet'), in 1929. This song is belongs to his famous book titled as The Evening (Sandhya: সন্ধ্যা). Nazrul is the musician of the song too. In 13 January 1972, the ministry of Bangladesh has adopted this song as a national marching song on its first meeting after the country's independence.[1] At any military ceremony or function, first 21 lines of the song is being played. It is also known as the national military song of Bangladesh.[2]
History
On the first week of February in 1928, Nazrul came to Dhaka to attend second annual conference of Muslim Literary Society. He wrote this song at house of Syed Abul Hossain in Dhaka. This song is first published in The Flame (Shikha: শিখা) newspaper on the title of The Song of Youth (Notuner Gaan: নতুনের গান). Later it is included to The Evening (Sandhya: সন্ধ্যা).
