Central Russia is a term broadly used to define various areas in European Russia. Historically, the area described by the term has varied based on the purpose for which it is being used. It may, for example, refer to European Russia, except the North Caucasus (according to the definition of Europe accepted in Russia, the Caucasus is not a part of Europe), or to the whole of European Russia.

There is also a Central economic region of the Russian Federation, and a Central Federal District of the Russian Federation.
