Cayo Santa Maria is an island located north of Cuba in the Jardines del Rey archipelago well known for its luxury all inclusive resorts.
Overview
The island is linked to the mainland near Caibarién by a 48 km causeway constructed between 1989 and 1999 by « Campaña de las villas ». The first hotel to open its door was the Sol Cayo Santa Maria in Dec. 2001. All hotels in Cayo Santa Maria are owned by the Cuban group Gaviota. There are currently 9 hotels for a total of 6,119 rooms in Cayo Santa Maria (winter 2013), but it is not over yet. The « Cayo Santa Maria » project is the construction of 10,000 rooms on this small island.

Beach and Colonial), Royalton Cayo Santa Maria (122 rooms), Memories Paraiso Azul Beach Resort (1,386 rooms) and finally the Eurostars Cayo Santa Maria (846 rooms) There is one hotel in the neighbor island Cayo Ensenachos, the Iberostars Ensenachos (506 rooms)
The island is administered as part of Caibarién, a municipality of Villa Clara Province.[1]
