Caxias Futebol Clube, commonly known as Caxias, is a Brazilian football team based in Joinville, Santa Catarina state. They won the Campeonato Catarinense three times and competed in the Copa do Brasil once.

History

The club was founded on October 12, 1920.[1] They won the Campeonato Catarinense in 1929, 1954, and in 1955.[2] The club merged its football department with América-SC's football department on January 29, 1976, to form Joinville Esporte Clube, but eventually they reopened its football department. Caxias won the Campeonato Catarinense Second Level in 2002, and the Campeonato Catarinense Third Level in 2009. The club competed in the Copa do Brasil in 2004, when they were eliminated in the First Round by Fluminense of Rio de Janeiro state.

Stadium

Caxias Futebol Clube play their home games at Estádio Ernesto Schlemm Sobrinho, nicknamed Ernestão.[1] The stadium has a maximum capacity of 5,000 people.[3]
