Cathedral Academy (formerly Catheral School) is an 11-16 voluntary controlled Church of England secondary school with academy status. The school has places for 1050 students, and there are currently 997 pupils on the school roll.[1] The school is a Specialist Performing Arts College, with a national reputation for excellence, and houses a Post 16 Performing Arts Academy (CAPA) with 60 student places. The school holds the Artsmark gold award.

The school was judged by Ofsted in March 2010 to be "a good school with outstanding features".[2]
The school is Wakefield's only Church of England secondary school and was judged at SIAS inspection to be "outstanding".[3]
