Castelplanio is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Ancona in the Italian region Marche, located about 35 km southwest of Ancona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,303 and an area of 15.1 km².[1]

The municipality of Castelplanio contains the frazioni (subdivisions) Macine, Pozzetto, Borgo Loreto and Piagge.

Castelplanio borders the following municipalities: Belvedere Ostrense, Maiolati Spontini, Poggio San Marcello, Rosora.

It`s patron saint is Saint Joseph.[2]
