Carlos Tuimavave is a New Zealand rugby league player who currently plays professionally for the New Zealand Warriors.
Early years
Tuimavave attended St. Patricks School and Sacred Heart College, both in east Auckland.[3] He played his junior football with the Mt. Wellington Warriors rugby league club. A versatile back, Carlos primarily plays in the centres, but has played most of his Toyota Cup career in the halves. He can also cover fullback.
Playing career
Tuimavave signed with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs when he was 16 and moved to Sydney.[4] Becoming homesick, he was offered the chance to join the New Zealand Warriors Toyota Cup squad in 2010 and played in both the 2010 and 2011 Grand Final victories. Forming a halves partnership with Shaun Johnson, Tuimavave was named the man of the match in the 2010 Grand Final and also won the Warriors Young NYC Player of the Year award.[3] He was named in the 2011 National Youth Competition Team of the Year. In 2012 he became the club's sixth player to appear in 50 NYC matches.[5]
Tuimavave became the 177th player to play for the Warriors, making his National Rugby League debut on the 5 August 2012 of the bench in the 45-4 loss against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Mt Smart Stadium. He come on the field after 20 minutes filling in for the injured Five-Eighth James Maloney. Carlos served as 18th man the weekend before.[6]
Carlos Tuimavave, was one of the ten players listed in a recent article by Lifestyle Uncut on the top ten youngster in the NRL for the 2012 season. [7]
Representative career
Tuimavave played for the Junior Kiwis between 2010 and 2012.[3][8]
In 2013, he elected to play for Samoa at senior level and made his international debut in the 36-4 mid-season loss to Tonga.
Personal life
Tuimavave is a cousin of former Warrior, Evarn, and nephew of former Kiwi and Samoan internationals, Tony and Paddy.[9]
