Carey, California

Carey (also, Jeram) is a former settlement in Mendocino County, California.^[1] It was located 16 miles (26 km) south of Covelo.^[1]

The Carey post office opened in 1891, changed its name to Jeram in 1896, and closed in 1897.^[1] The name Carey honored George R. Carey, its first postmaster.^[1] The name Jeram was for Father Jeram who established a Slavonian colony in Eden Valley.^[1]
