Cardeto (Greek: Kardia) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region Calabria, located about 120 km southwest of Catanzaro and about 10 km southeast of Reggio Calabria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,195 and an area of 36.3 km².[1]
The municipality of Cardeto contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Pantano (Greek: Pandaros), Mannarella, Sant'Elia, Mallamaci (Greek: Mallamakioi), Cartalimi, Iriti (Greek: Iritos), Piraino, Colachecco, Loddini, Castanea (Greek: Kastanià), Chimputo, Ambele (Greek: Amvyla), Lamberta, Giurricando, Garcea, Calvario,Scranò, and Scala.
Cardeto borders the following municipalities: Bagaladi, Reggio Calabria, Roccaforte del Greco.
