The Cape Cod Islanders are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Hyannis, Massachusetts.[1] They are a member of the newly formed and AAU sanctioned Northern States Junior Hockey League. The team plays at the new 1,500-seat Hyannis Youth and Community Center (HYCC).[2]
History
The team traces its roots back to the minor professional team, Cape Cod Cubs, that played in the region during the 1970s.[3] The current team was founded as the Cape Cod Cubs in 2008 and joined the IJHL for the 2009-2010 season.[4] The Cubs won back to back IJHL Super Elite League titles in their first two seasons in the league. In 2011 the Cubs became the Cape Cod Islanders.
