Caner Erkin (Turkish pronunciation: [d͡ʒaneɾ æɾcin], born 4 October 1988) is a Turkish footballer who plays for Fenerbahçe and the Turkish national team.

Club career

Early years

Erkin began his professional career at the start of the 2004–05 season with Manisaspor who at the time were playing in the Second Division. That season they won the league and got promoted to the Süper Lig. During his 1.5-year stay at Manisaspor in, he scored 5 goals in 39 games. In the January 2007 transfer window, he moved to CSKA Moscow, for a £3.5 million transfer fee. He has played total 40 games 7 in the UEFA Champions League and also won the Russian Super Cup on two occasions. On 31 August 2009, Galatasaray signed Erkin on a one-year loan from CSKA Moscow with an option to purchase at the end of the season.[1] Initially he played as a left-back and was mainly used as a substitute for Hakan Balta, however during the season, coach Frank Rijkaard played him in a more advanced position on the left wing due to his greater attacking ability. He scored his first goal for Galatasaray during a Türkiye Kupası game against Trabzonspor.

Fenerbahçe

He wanted to move to the new season to Fenerbahçe. Fenerbahçe paid for it about €2 million detachment and Erkin signed with Fenerbahçe for four-year contract until 30 June 2014. He was transferred mainly as a substitute on the left wing. Since he can play both as a left fullback or as a left midfielder he will see a lot of playing time. He has exceptional ball control with his left foot, not so much with his right. He can take on defenders with quality dribbling. He can cross well, and is a threat with his long shot attempts. He's also part of the national team and has a chance to be a starter for Hiddink's team. Caner played Europa League quarter final match with SS Lazio and he scored a goal Fenerbahçe reach semi final.

International career

Erkin made his debut for the Turkish national football team at the age of 17 in a friendly match against Ghana in May 2006. His first goal was against Ukraine in 5 June 2012.[2]
