Camp Horizons

Coordinates: 38°50′51.1″N 78°43′0.5″W / 38.847528°N 78.716806°W / 38.847528; -78.716806 Camp Horizons is a summer camp in Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA for children ages 6–17, with those age 17 taking part in the Leadership Program.

Counselors come from the United States and a variety of other countries around the world.

Cabins

There are four different villages at camp made up of groupings of cabins.

Campers in the Journey Program, ages 6–11, live in Rainbow (girls) and Sunrise(boys). Campers in the Explorer Program, ages 12-16, live in Starlight (girls) and Sunset (boys).

Activities

The camp has many activities in sports, water sports, equestrian and adventure.

  • Sports include: Soccer, Baseball, Tennis, Archery, Swimming, Basketball, Frisbee, Volleyball
  • Water sports include: SCUBA Diving, Canoeing, Kayaking, Water Polo, Swimming Lessons and Free Swim
  • Other activities include: Arts & Crafts, Photography, Horizons Radio, Drama, Dance, Rocketry, Nature, Gardening, Rock Climbing, Caving, Tubing, High and Low ropes challenge courses, Hiking, Fishing and more.

Evening Activities

After dinner, there are evening activities which are conducted as a program. There is always a campfire with a meaningful discussion and an opportunity for the campers to thank each other for small favors during the day or actions that meant a lot to them.

Evening activities after campfire include dodgeball, talent shows, dances, pool parties, and treasure hunts.
