Camellia railway station is situated in the suburb of Camellia in the City of Parramatta, in Sydney's western suburbs on the Carlingford Line. This station is not heavily used. It consists of a single platform of an unusual 5 car length on a single line. There is a pedestrian level crossing to reach the other side of the line.
The Epping to Chatswood railway line was originally intended to continue from Epping to Parramatta, and would have travelled along the existing Carlingford train line through Dundas, which would be widened from single-track to dual-track. However, in August 2003 the NSW Transport Minister, Michael Costa, announced that the Epping-Parramatta section would be postponed indefinitely.
Camellia is the least patronised station in Sydney, with an average of 40 boardings per day.
History
Subiaco station opened on 21 January 1885 and was renamed Camellia in 1901.[1]
