Cecil Calvert Broughton (December 28, 1860– March 15, 1939) was an American Major League Baseball catcher. He played professionally for the Cleveland Blues, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Grays, St. Louis Browns and the Detroit Wolverines.
Biography
Broughton was born in Magnolia, Wisconsin.[1] He played his first professional game on May 2, 1883 for the Cleveland Blues. Broughton played professionally from 1883-1888.[2]
After leaving major league baseball, Broughton served as the police chief in Evansville, Wisconsin from 1900-1916, and then as assistant police chief in Evansville from 1916-1933.[3]
Death
Broughton died on March 15, 1939 in Evansville, Wisconsin, and is interred at Maple Hill Cemetery in Evansville.
