"Cain Rose Up" is a short story by Stephen King. It was originally published in the Spring 1968 issue of Ubris magazine, and collected in King's Skeleton Crew in 1985. It deals with a depressed and homicidal college student, Curt Garrish, who goes on a murderous sniper rampage from his dormitory room.
Film adaptations
The first Dollar Baby film adaptation was shot in 1989 by Oklahoma filmmaker David C. Spillers. Four other Dollar Baby adaptations of this story are being developed. One is by filmmaker Jeven Dovey and was finished spring 2010 in Los Angeles. The second is by the Australian filmmaker Robert Livings. The third is by filmmaker Robert Kreh. The fourth is by South African filmmaker David Emery.
The four received non-exclusive rights to the story.
