Cai Huikang (Chinese: 蔡慧康; Pinyin: Cài Huìkāng; born 10 October 1989 in Shanghai) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Chinese Super League side Shanghai East Asia as a defensive midfielder.

Club career

Born in Shanghai, Cai joined Genbao Football Academy in 2000 and was promoted to Shanghai East Asia squad in 2006 for the China League Two campaign. He played as a regular starter at defensive midfielder position and made an impression within the team as Shanghai East Asia won promotion to the second tier in the 2007 season. On 18 April 2008, he scored his first senior goal in a 1–1 home draw against Beijing Hongdeng.[1] He lost his regular position in the 2011 season and was linked with Guangdong Sunray Cave in the end of 2011.[2] Cai finally stayed in the club and appeared in 29 league matches in the 2012 season, as Shanghai East Asia won the champions and promoted to the top flight.
