CHDR-FM is a Canadian radio station in Cranbrook, British Columbia that broadcasts an active rock format at 102.9 FM branded as The Drive. The station is owned by the Jim Pattison Group.
The station originally began broadcasting in 1957 as CKEK at a frequency of 570 AM. CKEK received approval to add AM transmitters at Canal Flats and Kimberley, in 1990 and was re-licenced at Canal Flats again in 2004.[1][2] In 1984, CFEK Fernie received approval to add an AM transmitter at Sparwood on the frequency 1400 AM.[3] CKEK moved to the FM dial at 102.9 MHz in 2002 and became CHDR "The Drive".[4]
It is uncertain when the AM station (formerly CKKI at 1460) in Kimberley was deleted, although the FM transmitters that went on in 2002 reach Kimberley.
"The Drive" can also be heard in Fernie at 99.1 FM with the call sign CJDR [5] and Sparwood at 93.5 FM with the call sign CJDR-FM-1.[6]
